Insurance company De Goudse became a participant in the ASR Dutch Science Park Fund in October 2021. As from 1 January they will invest an additional €20 million in commercial real estate on Dutch science parks. The ASR Dutch Science Park Fund was set up in 2019; it is now worth 100 million and has an exclusive pipeline to 150 million.
‘By investing in the ASR Dutch Science Park Fund we have opted to invest in a sector with clear and robust long-term fundamentals’, says Pieter de Frel, CFRO of De Goudse Verzekeringen. ‘Thanks in part to its partnerships with Dutch universities, the Fund offers a special real estate product with an attractive risk-return profile.’
Edwin van de Woestijne, interim fund director of ASR Dutch Science Park Fund adds, ‘We are seeing increasing interest in investments in science parks, partly because of the continuing growth of companies in the technical and life science sectors. The high utilisation rates and long rental contracts make it an attractive asset class. The additional commitment of De Goudse is confirmation of confidence in the Fund and gives us more room to expand the portfolio.’
