In Haarlem, the last residents of the HAAVE project were handed the key to their brand-new home this month. These 61 rental units in HAAVE represent an investment by a.s.r. real estate on behalf of the ASR Dutch Core Residential Fund. Most of the properties have been let in the mid-price rental segment, with priority given to residents aged 55 and over. HAAVE is fully leased.
In total, the new-build HAAVE development, surrounded by water and greenery, comprises 150 family houses and apartments spread across three modern residential buildings, including 16 privately commissioned units. The project is situated in the district of Schalkwijk, conveniently located for arterial roads, a major shopping centre and a hospital, and only a 10-minute bike ride from Haarlem city centre. The ASR Dutch Core Residential Fund owns the 61 rental apartments spread between two of the residential buildings, along with 47 parking spaces.
These one or two-bedroom apartments range from 50 to 95 m², and all of them come with outdoor space and storage.
These rental properties are a welcome addition to Haarlem’s affordable housing options. By making the majority of homes available in the mid-price rental segment and giving priority to residents aged 55 and over, a.s.r. real estate’s housing fund aims to improve mobility in the housing market.
The new tenants can enjoy living in a residential building that is rich in natural materials and surrounded by an abundance of greenery. Wood from sustainably managed forests has been used for the facades, and residents are welcome to make use of the shared roof garden on top of the garage complex. The building uses solar and geothermal energy, and rainwater is collected in a wadi. In addition, the floors in HAAVE’s rental properties come as a standard part of the interior, ensuring long-lasting use of materials.
Heddes Bouw & Ontwikkeling was responsible for the building’s construction. HAAVE was built to the design of Rijnboutt architects.
